Position Overview:
Thompson Solutions Group is seeking a Mechanical BIM Designer to join our dynamic team. This role involves coordinating mechanical design and BIM modeling for a variety of construction projects. As a key member of the design team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient, cost-effective project execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop BIM models of mechanical systems in accordance with established BIM standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with project managers to create prefabrication drawings for shop and field use and assist in preparing submittal documents.
  • Utilize laser scanning technology to create building models, import data into Autodesk Revit, and conduct clash detection and visual walk-throughs with Navisworks and Revit.
  • Mark plumbing and HVAC system locations using a total station.
  • Use visualization, graphics, and presentation skills to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Provide design support and documentation throughout all project phases, from initial design through project close-out.

Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in mechanical design using Autodesk Production Software (Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks), Bluebeam, and related tools.
  • Proficiency in Revit, with the ability to produce comprehensive plan sets for client distribution and a strong ability to visualize construction projects in 3D.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems and components.
  • Experience with mechanical prefabrication software such as PractiRev is preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with team members, clients, and other professionals.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to solve problems independently and a passion for learning and implementing new technologies to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Physical ability to walk job sites, stand, sit for extended periods, bend, kneel, and operate office and job site equipment.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, with the ability to travel to meetings and job sites as required.
