Position Overview

As a Journeyperson Plumber at Thompson Solutions Group, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in commercial and industrial settings. Your expertise in plumbing and thorough knowledge of building codes and regulations will ensure the safe and efficient functioning of plumbing systems. You will work independently or as part of a team, collaborating with clients, contractors, and other professionals to deliver high-quality plumbing services.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, valves, and fittings. Ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and local plumbing codes.
  • Cut, thread, and assemble pipes using various tools and techniques. Conduct welding and soldering tasks to join pipes and fittings securely.
  • Study and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing systems' layout, location, and size. Collaborate with contractors and other professionals to plan and execute plumbing projects.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through professional and courteous service.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage. Stay updated on local plumbing codes and regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Provide guidance, demonstrate techniques, and explain plumbing concepts and best practices to apprentices in the trade program.

 

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Plumber Certification or relevant trade qualification.
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, materials, and techniques.
  • Strong understanding of local plumbing codes, regulations, and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Skilled in pipefitting, welding, soldering, and other plumbing-related tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to walk, bend, climb, sit, and stand for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance, frequently lift 10-25 pounds, and occasionally lift overhead up to 20 pounds. Must be able to use hands and arms to operate basic tools. Must be able to see, hear, and speak within normal ranges with or without aids. Work will be performed indoors as well as on construction sites, subject to outdoor environments and temperatures. The ability to navigate rough terrain and use a ladder is required.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours daily, with occasional workdays of 10-12 hours.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
